Ancient

Pre 1066 | Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings

Britain hasn't kept many of its ancient ruins. When the Romans invaded they did their best to create concrete roads, stone walls, and steam-powered hot-tubs for posterity to preserve and admire.

But time moved on, and we expanded; up over the Roman stones, and outwards from the fortresses; we renovated the Anglo-Saxon churches, and forgot to remember where we put the Viking graves; and now most of the ancient pieces of Britain are either buried deep underground or held in shallow glass cases.

The remnants of ancient Britain are lost, and they have to be discovered.

I'll be spending all my free time travelling and researching; discovering the hidden places around the country that can help tell the stories of our society and  how we have interacted with nature.
